Joe Tremper is a performer, educator, and composer based out of Miami, FL. Originally from Tampa, FL, Joe earned his undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Music Studies from the University of South Florida. In the Spring, Joe earned his Masters in Percussion Performance from the University of Delaware. He is now working on his Doctorate in Percussion Performance at the University of Miami, where he studies under Svet Stoyanov, Pablo Rieppi, and Leo Soto and serves as an athletic bands teaching assistant with the Frost Band of the Hour.
Professionally, Joe leads a world-class teaching career as a Front Ensemble technician with United Percussion and the Boston Crusaders, and since moving back to Florida, has started working with Infinity Percussion. Joe plays an active role in advancing percussion pedagogy, spending time at and writing for dozens of high schools across the country. He maintains his relationship with his hometown by writing, designing, and consulting for schools in the Greater Tampa Bay area, as well as returning home for the annual USF Summer Drumline Camp. As a performer, Joe has performed with the Florida Gulf Coast Symphony, spent two competitive seasons over three years with the Boston Crusaders, as well as four seasons with Infinity Percussion. As a solo and chamber musician, he has received several awards and been featured on chamber tours, concerto competitions, and more. Joe proudly endorses Vic Firth sticks and mallets and Zildjian cymbals.
